About

Welcome!

I am the AKS Postdoctoral Fellow at the James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.

I study civic engagement, education, and public opinion. My book project “The Social Logic of Civics: How Education Models Shape Citizens Beyond the Curriculum” primarily uses cross-country and original survey data to investigate how authority structures of education models matter for shaping citizens. I show that individuals who learn in more student-centered models are consistently more likely to be more engaged citizens than their peers, even when we compare individuals who were randomly assigned education models by lottery.

My research has been supported by the APSA Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant (2022), APSA Centennial Center Research Grant (2021), and the Vanderbilt College of Arts and Science Summer Research Award (2020).
